Douglas Martin, Conductor

I was honored to conduct over 100 performances of Baz Luhrmann's production of Puccini's La Bohème - first at the Curran Theater in San Francisco, then at the Broadway Theater in New York City, and later in 2004 for a 3-month sold-out run at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles.

Luhrmann's 2002 production featured Puccini's opera: without cuts, sung in Italian with supertitles, with top-notch 27 piece orchestras; combined with 3 of the best young international operatic casts ever assembled.

Original cast members who continue to distinguish themselves include: tenors Alf Boe, Jesus Garcia, and David Miller (presently of Il Divo); and baritones Eugene Brancoveanu, Ben Davis, and Daniel Okulich.
