Gala Performance
In April 2017, Eve Queler, the incomparable operatic trailblazer, offered to share an Opera Gala honoring Giuseppe Giacomini with Maestro Martin at Zankel Hall in New York City. Mr. Martin led Dongwon Shin, Natasha Novitskaya, Grigory Soloviov, Sharon Azrieli, and Tim Renner in operatic arias and duets accompanied by members of the Opera Orchestra of New York.
Amore Partnership
In 2013, Mr. Martin met the beloved, recently deceased Renaissance man and stage director Nathan Hull at Amore Opera. Amore Opera was begun as a living memorial to Tony Amato's 60 years at Amato Opera. Highlights of their 7-year partnership included a Gala with international artists Francisco Casanova, Aprile Millo, and countertenor Nicholas Tamagna; and the American Staged Premiere performances of Donizetti's 7th opera La Zingara, at Riverside Church in New York City.
Broadway Success
During 2002-2004, Mr. Martin conducted 100 performances of Baz Luhrmann's production of La Bohème on Broadway in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles. A big thank you to the wonderful Constantine Kitsopoulos, music director. Singers from the original casts who continue to distinguish themselves include Alf Boe, Eugene Brancoveanu, Ben Davis, Jesus Garcia, David Miller, and Daniel Okulich.
Festival Highlights
In August 2012, Mr. Martin led the atmospheric and complex Concerto for Choir and the humorous Go For Broke by Peter Schickele at the rising Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, near Woodstock, NY, honoring the composer in attendance.
Opera Production
In 2011, Mr. Martin conducted a highly successful production of Il barbiere di Siviglia with the talented stage director Dean Anthony for Opera on the James, in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Alaskan Gala
For Anchorage Opera's glittering opening night gala in 2010, Mr. Martin guided the Metropolitan Opera artists Janinah Burnett, Yegishe Manucharyan, the gifted Todd Robinson, and talented Alaskan artists in an evening of operatic French masterpieces.
